The challenge

What the event demanded.

On-and-off rain
Showers came and went all night, so the speakers, amps, and cable runs had to stay dry without stopping the show or covering up the look of the stage.
A bass-heavy lineup
The bill was full of bass music DJs, and the low end had to hit hard on an open street while staying clean.
DJs and live vocalists
Vocalists performed over DJ sets, so every voice had to sit clearly on top of a heavy mix.
A packed public street
Third Street Promenade filled shoulder to shoulder, with buildings, shops, and trees all around the stage.

Our approach

How we handled it.

We brought white speaker covers that sit behind the speakers and covered every cable run, so the system was protected from the first drop of rain.

Our crew watched the weather all night. When it rained, the covers went on. When it stopped, they came off, so the white Void stacks stayed the centerpiece of the stage.

Our engineers tuned the low end for a bass music crowd on an open street and kept live vocals clear and present over every DJ set.

Because we stayed on top of the weather, the sound stayed smooth from start to finish.
